The Bookworm Café as we know it is closing to the public on Sunday 8th of December 2013. We are leaving our current premises and hope to re-open in 2014 (earliest Spring and latest Autumn) in a new location and with a strengthened team. 1st objective of helping the Bookworm survive has been achieved; we now need to be sustainable and successful long term and for that we need your help! As this news may come as a surprise / shock and elicit a range of emotions … confusion, anger, sadness, excitement, curiosity … may I ask that you please e-mail me at bookwormcafe@gmail.com with your reactions, ideas, comments and enthusiasm for the future project of which you can be a part. Please try to drop in before December 8th (Brocante day). We have Christmas bookings from 9th to 20th of December with a few free slots left, so if you are interested in organising a private event during that period, do get in touch. Thanks for all your support!

Welcome Back

I hope you have had a good holiday and are surviving the famous "rentrée". The Bookworm Café is open from Thursday to Sunday 12 noon to 6 pm. You are most welcome to come along and try our scones, have a cosy cuppa and browse the books.

We had a "pré-rentrée" last week and many old and new faces popped in to say hello and find out what was new at the Bookworm Café.

Well, we have a piano! so watch out for news of our first concert in October. Children’s snack and story time at 4 and 5 o’ clock. English conversation with cream tea and of course our bookclubs.

Bloomsday Celebration

James Joyce

In association with the Celtic Connection, at 4.30pm today we are celebrating Bloomsday and the life and work of the Irish writer James Joyce. We will have readings from Ulysses and informal chat with tea and scones. Do come along whether you are a fan or not. Babel kindly gave us a fascinating biography of Nora, Joyce’s wife. This book is key to understanding James Joyce and his writing.
